Bolt Forge launches with open-source AI models and up to 50X usage

Bolt.new launched Bolt Forge on September 14, 2026 as a research preview. Forge is not a single new model. It is an agent inside Bolt.new that lets builders create apps and websites using a lineup of open-source AI models.
Its main attraction is a substantially larger usage allowance. Every individual Pro plan receives up to 50X more Forge usage at no additional cost through October 14, 2026. There is an important trade-off: when users select Forge and opt in, their prompts, code, and repair traces from Forge sessions may help train open-weight models.
What is included
Forge appears as a third option alongside the existing Standard and Max agents. At launch, its model lineup includes:
- GLM 5.3 Flash
- GLM 5.3
- Kimi K3 as an experimental option
- DeepSeek v4 Pro as an experimental option
In Bolt's own Build Index, the Forge lineup scored 92.2, compared with 101.0 for the highest-scoring paid model, Claude Opus 5. That puts Forge at roughly 91% of the top score on Bolt's internal benchmark for completing real projects.
Forge usage has its own monthly meter and does not reduce a user's Standard or Max allocation. There are no daily limits. When the meter reaches 100%, Bolt switches the user back to Standard instead of charging an overage fee.

How to access it
- Sign in to Bolt.new with an individual Pro plan.
- Open the agent picker inside a project.
- Select Bolt Forge next to Standard and Max.
- Review the data-use consent screen.
- Opt in if you accept the anonymized session-sharing terms, then start building.
People without Pro access can join the Bolt Lite waitlist, with the first seats expected to open by September 21, 2026. The other route is Pro, listed in the launch announcement at US$25 per month when billed annually.
Requirements and limitations
Forge is available to individual Pro accounts during the launch. Teams and Enterprise workspaces are excluded from both Forge and its data collection.
Training consent is requested whenever a user switches into Forge. Bolt says it removes secrets, sensitive data, and personal information before anonymized sessions leave its infrastructure for Arcee AI. Switching back to Standard or Max stops new sharing, but information already used for training cannot be removed from models that have learned from it.
The Forge models remain experimental inside Bolt. The company recommends duplicating important projects before trying Forge and keeping complex production work in Standard or Max. PDF uploads are not yet supported. Kimi K3 and DeepSeek v4 Pro also consume the Forge allowance faster than the GLM options.
What happens after the preview
Forge is expected to remain available as an open-model lab after October 14, 2026. The up-to-50X launch allowance and the first Arcee AI training-data window end on that date, while the longer-term allowance has not yet been announced.
